Hello… New Year, New Story

, , , , , , , , ,

So, I hope that your new year is off to a good start. Mine has been a tad slow to get the motivation going and to set my goals. I found that making a new mood/dream board always helps. I suggest you give it ago, it is not only fun but inspiring and from there your mind starts setting the goals and the new chapter in your life story can start. Best of luck with everything and let me know how you get on. x

It has been a rollercoaster year but here we are arriving at the end. It has definitely had some high points that still make me smile.

I hope that whatever the year has held for you, that you are well and are happy.

Just as a treat for you all I have uploaded a short story for Christmas that I hope you enjoy as much as  my other books.

Ely Writers Day – 17th October 2015

, , , , , , ,

Ely Writers Day was the first book event I had been to, having just held our own Fenland LitFest last month and to have had so much positive feedback, I was excited to go. My friend let me down at the last minute and I almost chickened out. But I had booked my ticket and I had been looking forward to it so I decided to be brave and go it alone.

I drove to Ely, I hate driving to new places, I had never been there before so had no idea where to park or anything. I was petrified! However, on arrival, finally finding a car park, I asked a lady how much parking was and was pleased that it was free. Then, as she was helpful, I asked her if she knew where the library was. And bless her heart she walked me right up to it and told me where other places of interest where. I wish I had found out her name as she was a life-saver!

So I stopped outside for a second to ring home to let them know I was safely where I was meant to be. To my surprise a fabulous lady stopped and told me what a lovely smile I had and beautiful hair. To be honest I would have been happy with just that.

But even better still, the event was even more inspiring than I could have hoped. Just being in the room with other like-minded people, all chatting away and enjoying the enthusiasm filling the room was fantastic. So I met some lovely people and learned some great tips. Yet above all I realised that I was not alone in my pursuit. It reignited my belief. So on with the editing of the second Double Thinking Girl.

Oh, and I won a signed copy of ‘We’ll Meet Again’ by the talented Mary Nichols. Huge thank you to the organisers Rosemary Westwell, Mary McGuire and Hayley Humprey.

So my advice would be that if there is a writers event in your area go, they are so friendly and welcoming.

Aspiration Day at Clenchwarton School

, , , , , ,

It was so wonderful being invited to be one of the guest speakers yesterday at ClenchWarton Primary School.

So fabulous to have felt I have inspired young minds. When you are asked what you wanted to do as a job and you say I used to sit at my typewriter, my calculator was my phone and I pretended I was a writer. The young girl looked me straight in the eye and said, ‘Then your dream came true.’ Wow… humbling, I got quite chocked up to realise that I am living the life I love. From the mouths of babes.

Also being asked for my autograph and having to write them on the back of my shopping list notepad amused them.

It is these moments that make the difference and why I do what I do.

Massive thank you to everyone for making me so welcome.

Fenland LitFest

Well we had an amazing day on 5th September, a hugely talented group of people invaded the Angles Theatre. Around 80-100 people popped in to join in and show support for what we were doing. The atmosphere was fantastically inspiring. A massive thank you to all involved. Here are some photos of it in full swing. If you missed it, fear not, we are already planning the next one. .. FB_IMG_1442171342501 FB_IMG_1442171377013 FB_IMG_1442171394488 FB_IMG_1442171506529 FB_IMG_1442171570041 received_1068420399858756 IMG-20150905-WA0001 FB_IMG_1441881943167 FB_IMG_1441881949877 FB_IMG_1441881954642 IMG-20150912-WA000020150911_100910
